A. UAS runs on Windows NT networks with the server running Windows NT Server Version 4.0 or higher and the workstations running Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT Workstation.
Q. Can I run on a Windows 98 peer-to-peer network?
A. No, UAS does not run on peer-to-peer networks. The software offers real-time, multi-user updating of many files which is not consistent on peer-to-peer networks. That is one of the reasons that Windows NT exists.
Q. Does the network require a dedicated file server?
A. We strongly recommend that you have a dedicated file server.
Q. Does the Inventory Control modul offer a size, style, color matrix?
A. No, not at this time.
Q. Can I automatically convert my present master files such as inventory, customer, and vendor files to UAS?
A. Yes. UAS has built-in migration tools that enable the conversion of master files from many other formats. UAS offers three different data storage venues: Microsoft Visual Foxpro, SQL Server Version, or Oracle.
Q. Can I bring over history from my present non-UAS system to UAS?
A. No. Bringing over history from a prior system involves a tremendous amount of time to match up file structures from the old system and the new system. We do not recommend that this be done.
Q. Does your Point Of Sale module work with all p.o.s. peripherals (i.e., barcode printers, scanners, cash drawers, pole displays etc.)?
A. UAS interfaces with a variety of point-of-sale peripheral devices. This list is constantly updated as new devices are made available and are tested with UAS software. A list of tested devices is available by request.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of data records in a particular file, such as Inventory Items, Customers, and so forth?
A. No, there is no limit within the software. You are only limited by the amount of available hard disk space on your server.
Q. What's the difference between the Windows version of UAS and the DOS version of UAS besides screen appearance?
A. UAS for Windows has many new features. Among them are full boolean search capabilities, drill-down inquiries, e-mailing and faxing as a printing option from the software, as well as new available modules including Work Order Processing and Bank Reconciliation.
Q.
What comfort level can you provide to show that UAS will deliver the reliability
I need?
A. Universal
Accounting Software, Inc. has been providing innovative software solutions
and reliable technical support service for over 11 years, since 1990. Our
client base is varied and includes small and medium-sized companies as well
as much larger enterprises. This provides a stable foundation for UAS. We've
largely built our client base upon referrals and have always taken a personalized
approach to each installation. For that reason, we have retained many clients
since "day one".
Q.
How much training is typically necessary for a company converting to UAS?
A. Although
formal training classes are available both at our UAS facility in Edgewater,
New Jersey as well as at the client site, in many instances training is
not necessary. Universal Accounting Software is designed to be intuitive,
that is, the user can often navigate quite easily through the screens without
formal training. Each software package is shipped with various training
tools including a Quick Start Setup & Implementation Guide which provides
a step-by-step "map" to enable companies to get themselves up
and running as quickly and painlessly as possible.
