| Universal Accounting Software Announces Alliance with Electronic Commerce Systems | |||||
| Edgewater, NJ, March 24, 2003 - Universal Accounting Software, Inc. (UAS) announces an alliance with Electronic Commerce Systems, Inc. (ECS) to provide wholesalers and distributors with an integrated accounting, order processing, inventory, and EDI/e-commerce solution. The two companies have agreed to work together to integrate the EDI and other order handling functions of the ECS product line with the order entry, accounting and inventory control applications of UAS to deliver unprecedented levels of functionality for their customers. The UAS software modules are Windows-based and seamlessly integrated. The complete set of modules can handle order processing, inventory control, purchasing, and back-office accounting. With the addition of the e-commerce module, users can easily exchange EDI transactions with their customers and suppliers. Each transaction is translated from the EDI format of the trading partner and used to update the orders and inventory data in the UAS application. "Distributors are looking for ways to eliminate costs but at the same time make themselves more competitive", states Arleen Coletti, Vice President of UAS. "Our customers get to do this with an integrated system that cost justifies itself within a year. Finally, barriers have been removed so even small companies can participate in the advantages that multi-billion dollar companies have had for years, specifically, an integrated flow of transactions." Because ECS maintains the trading partner EDI maps for the data translation process, the end-user isn't required to be involved in this complex part of the process. The UAS solution, with the ECS e-commerce capability, will automatically download EDI transactions form the network, translate them from EDI into the internal UAS format, and then import those transactions into the UAS application. The application processes the transaction and then exports transactions back through the translation and delivery process. The automated flow of transactions enables the system to handle high volumes without errors. "Implementing EDI can be a huge benefit to a distributor if it's integrated with the back office accounting application", says Vickie Hill, President of ECS. "ECS and UAS are both committed to delivering systems that deliver on the promise of e-commerce. That is, it should reduce operational costs while improving the company's ability to be competitive."
